She raised me
She slaked my thirst
Brewed happiness
It seemed at first
Born broiling
in lonliness
Hides it well
in her spring dress
The sun never rises
The sun, she never sets
Brightens dust and sorrow-flecked
The sun never rises
The sun, she never sets
Just turn my head to see the world as I expect
Mad toused waves
she shines discrete
Mother's wails
she whispers sweet
Jealous child
picks newborns clean
Stoic-faced
A barren queen
The sun never rises
The sun, she never sets
Brightens dust and sorrow-flecked
The sun never rises
The sun, she never sets
Just turn my head to see the world as I expect
Nothing's changed
but my eyes are more keen
Future's laid out
a panning hilltop scene
As I fade,
hoping, breathing shallow
She will bloat
saddened
gaunt
and
fallow
